Obituary for Harold Henderson

For those members who remember Harold Henderson, I wanted to attach his obituary.

Harold Henderson passed away with family by his side on Thursday November 9, 2017 at Runnymede Healthcare Centre, Toronto in his 82nd year.

Harold Edward Henderson was a devoted husband and family man. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Marian of 61 years, and his sons Brad (Peggy) and Bob (Glenna). He was a loving grandfather to Leslie, Mike (Julie), Nicole (Adam) and Bryan, and great-grandfather to Ethan, Cole and Dillon.

Harold was a teacher and a principal for the Simcoe County Board of Education for over 30 years. After he retired, Harold remained active in the community as a volunteer with Big Brothers. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Living Faith Presbyterian Church in Baxter, he also kept busy with a number of hobbies, including curling and golfing.

Harold and Marian saw the world together during their retirement, finding a special place in New Smyrna Beach in Florida. Many memories were created at the family cottage in Tobermory where he passed on his fire-making and fish-cooking skills to his grandchildren who visited during the summers.

Harold would delight others with his jokes and storytelling, often laughing before he got to the punchline. He had a great wit and sense of humour, which will live on in memories of him forever.

Private family service will be held at a later date. If so desired memorial donations to Living Faith Community Presbyterian Church, Baxter or Matthews House Hospice, Alliston would be appriecated.

November Fun Day

Rich and his outstanding set up crew started getting ready for Fun Day at around 9 am. Candy, along with the kitchen crew, set up the kitchen for our post play luncheon. The shufflers started arriving around 9:15 to register and pay their entry fee to Barb Fortini. Joan collected for the 50/50 which Mary McConnell won. Allen assigned and oriented the team leaders. We had eight teams with three and four members. After everyone had completed playing on all twenty courts, we met back in the Club House to have Hot Dogs and tally the scores.

Allen announced the Top Three Teams.  First Place:  Bonnie Radke’s team with 1480 points (Dennis, Elizabeth and Ghost) .  Second Place: Mary McConnell’s team with 1440 points (Sid, Darrel and Ghost) .  Third Place: Candy Kordeleski’s team  with 1340 points (Honey, Guy and Bob Tager).  Everyone had a fun time and shared in the booty.  Hope to see you for December’s Fun Day!  Ciao!

Thanksgiving Pot Luck Dinner – Nov 17. 2017

The set up crew arrived at 12:30 pm to prepare all the tables and chairs. Betty decorated the tables while Johnnie was out of town. Everyone began to arrive at 5:00 pm with all their sumptuous goodies. Don/Barb Nephew and John/Barb Fortini cooked the tasty turkeys and made the gravy. Everyone else brought the delicious fixings that go so well with turkey.

We had approximately fifty-three (53) people attend to enjoy the feast. The 50/50 was won by Bob Tager. Allen Best made a few announcements before Joan covered his mouth with tape so we could get on with dinner. Joan then said Grace and we all lined up at the tables to delve into the goodies. When we had finished dinner, the tables and chairs were cleared. Some of the members stayed to play Bunco. It was a wonderful evening with good food and marvelous company. Ciao!
