Getting Ready to Open

Zak, Jerry and Mike have been working hard to clean and sterilize the courts and cue house. Today Zak and Jerry were cleaning discs and tomorrow Mike will be washing everything down with clorox. We will let you know when we can start coming to play. No Chips just pick up games with friends. No one allowed in the Cue House except a designated person. All will be explained shortly. Stay tuned. We also took a picture of one of the new chickens. They all seem to be healthy.

New Sign on the back, “Adopt A Park” shows that Lisa Martin has adopted our park.  Thank You Lisa.

Adopt-a-Park Program

From small, one-acre pocket parks to larger waterfront public areas with playgrounds, individuals and groups may sign up to clean up a park for one year.

Adoptive park parents must commit to clean up activities at least monthly and participate, as available, in special projects such as landscaping. Picking up litter, pulling weeds, spreading mulch, planting foliage and notifying the City of needed maintenance are typical park duties that would be conducted by volunteers.

Adoptive groups will be recognized on park signage. The City will supply needed tools, equipment and materials for projects.

For more information on the program, please call (386) 424-2202 or email the Maintenance Operations Department.

OUR COURTS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED! April 24, 2020

Zak was contacted by Dave Ray, Director of Leisure Services yesterday. He had men at the courts doing repairs and they called him and told him that people had gone into the cue house and taken equipment and were playing. He wanted to let me know as I had just sent a message to the town on Monday reiterating that we were closed. He had read a copy of that.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE COURTS UNTIL THE CITY GIVES APPROVAL. If we do not follow requirements, we could lose our courts. Please be patient and stay safe.

A Note From Our President – April 22, 2020

Hi folks. I hope that this message finds you all in good health. Cindy and I talk constantly about missing our friends at the club and about how much we miss playing. We took what we had for granted and now that we don’t have it it is easy too see how much it means to many of us. With this mind I want to take the opportunity to bring you up to discuss our current status.
The club remains closed. I have been in contact with the Parks and Rec Department and let them know that we will remain closed until we can present them with a plan that will allow us to run the cue house facility safely, even if it is on a limited basis only. There has been some concern on the town’s part on what we were planning.
I am planning to hold a Board meeting within the next week to discuss ideas that would allow us to open on some basis. Hopefully, we can formulate a consensus plan that we can present to the town. If you have any thoughts on how to safely run the cue house area please pass them along to a Board member. We are all anxious to get back, but let’s be sure we do the right thing.
I hope to see you at the courts as soon as possible.

Zak

Virus Protection Information

This is an update.  I have been informed that Snopes says, “To sum up: This viral “advice” did not originate with Johns Hopkins University and the information contained within lacks credibility. ”  But it still is interesting to read when you are stuck at home.  Stay safe!

This is excellent and complete scientific info, from Johns Hopkins hospital and teaching facility.

* The virus is not a living organism, but a protein molecule (DNA) covered by a protective layer of lipid (fat), which, when absorbed by the cells of the ocular, nasal or buccal mucosa, changes their genetic code. (mutation) and convert them into aggressor and multiplier cells.

* Since the virus is not a living organism but a protein molecule, it is not killed, but decays on its own. The disintegration time depends on the temperature, humidity and type of material where it lies.

* The virus is very fragile; the only thing that protects it is a thin outer layer of fat. That is why any soap or detergent is the best remedy, because the foam CUTS the FAT (that is why you have to rub so much: for 20 seconds or more, to make a lot of foam).

By dissolving the fat layer, the protein molecule disperses and breaks down on its own.

* HEAT melts fat; this is why it is so good to use water above 77 degrees Fahrenheit for washing hands, clothes and everything. In addition, hot water makes more foam and that makes it even more useful.

* Alcohol or any mixture with alcohol over 65% DISSOLVES ANY FAT, especially the external lipid layer of the virus.

* Any mix with 1 part bleach and 5 parts water directly dissolves the protein, breaks it down from the inside.

* Oxygenated water helps long after soap, alcohol and chlorine, because peroxide dissolves the virus protein, but you have to use it pure and it hurts your skin.

* NO BACTERICIDE OR ANTIBIOTIC SERVES. The virus is not a living organism like bacteria; antibodies cannot kill what is not alive.

* NEVER shake used or unused clothing, sheets or cloth. While it is glued to a porous surface, it is very inert and disintegrates only
-between 3 hours (fabric and porous),
-4 hours (copper and wood)
-24 hours (cardboard),
– 42 hours (metal) and
-72 hours (plastic).

But if you shake it or use a feather duster, the virus molecules float in the air for up to 3 hours, and can lodge in your nose.

* The virus molecules remain very stable in external cold, or artificial as air conditioners in houses and cars.

They also need moisture to stay stable, and especially darkness. Therefore, dehumidified, dry, warm and bright environments will degrade it faster.

* UV LIGHT on any object that may contain it breaks down the virus protein. For example, to disinfect and reuse a mask is perfect. Be careful, it also breaks down collagen (which is protein) in the skin.

* The virus CANNOT go through healthy skin.

* Vinegar is NOT useful because it does not break down the protective layer of fat

* NO SPIRITS, NOR VODKA, serve. The strongest vodka is 40% alcohol, and you need 65%.

* LISTERINE IF IT SERVES! It is 65% alcohol.

* The more confined the space, the more concentration of the virus there can be. The more open or naturally ventilated, the less.

* You have to wash your hands before and after touching mucosa, food, locks, knobs, switches, remote control, cell phone, watches, computers, desks, TV, etc. And when using the bathroom.

* You have to Moisturize dry hands from so much washing them, because the molecules can hide in the micro cracks. The thicker the moisturizer, the better.

* Also keep your NAILS SHORT so that the virus does not hide there.
