The club would like to thank Mike Beall for all the wonderful, hard work he has been doing to get our courts in order. He has completely rebuilt the storage room so we have a new set of shelves to store our tournament discs on. The whole room has been swept and organized. The courts have been pressure washed and blown clean. Mike is doing a wonderful job managing out courts so please give him a big thank you when you see him.

On November 15/16, 2021 Tavares hosted the Northern District Any Amateur tournament. (ND10)  There were 18 teams and the sponsor was Edward Jones. Congratulations to all the players and a shout out to our declared Coronado Mainland Shufflers.

Today Dennis set up the courts for the Singles Mingles Challenge.  We had only Four Amateurs and Seven Pro/State Ams come to play.  I believe that this way of playing will help our amateurs become more comfortable with the game. We need to get more people participating. Next Single Mingles is Wednesday Dec 1, 2021 at 11:30 am.

Deland Shuffleboard Club hosted the Northern District Mixed Doubles Tournament held on November 11, 2021.  We had Seventeen (17) teams sign up for the challenge.  Thursday was a bit of a challenge with three rain storms passing through.  Friday was just right with a bit of a breeze and clouds.   Congratulations to all the players who played, and a special shout out to the declared members of the Coronado/Mainland Shuffleboard Club.

Dorothy Jeannette Gadway Gutowski, a 45-year resident of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died on October 3, 2020, in Virginia, Minnesota.

Jeannette was born in 1922 in Taunton, Massachusetts, to Floyd and Jessie Gadway.

She graduated from Taunton High School in 1940. She married her beloved husband, Edmund Andrew Gutowski, on April 4, 1942, and they moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1968. Later in life, she went to college and graduated with a degree in nursing.

Jeannette worked at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach as a dedicated nurse in surgical intensive care who conscientiously served her patients with compassion. She devoted herself as a diligent caregiver to family members and friends. She also served at St. Peter the Fisherman Episcopal Church in New Smyrna Beach.

Jeannette and Edmund shared a love of the outdoors and fishing together. She was an active and award-winning shuffleboard player with the Coronado/Mainland Shuffleboard Club. She was a baker of extraordinary pies and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Jeannette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Virginia Gutowski of Eveleth, MN; granddaughters, Karen (Mark) Wagner of Chanhassen, MN; and Tricia (Andrew) Roberts of Bayport, MN; and great-granddaughters Alexandra, Amelia, and Katya. She is also survived by a cousin, June Culhane of Marysville, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Jessie Gadway; her husband, Edmund Gutowski; and her sister, Yvonne Gadway.

At her request, there will be a small private family service only. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter the Fisherman Episcopal Church in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
