The Coronado/Mainland Shuffler

Tonight the CMS Club held their evening of Singles Mingles matches overseen by Dennis Buelk. Four (4) Pro/State Ams and Eight (8) Amateurs showed up to compete and place in order to earn some of the entry fee payout. We played five 12 frame matches and drew new partners after each match. Each amateur was paired with a Pro or State Amateur when possible. There were two winners from the Pro/State Ams…..First Place: Phil Wade and Second Place: Dennis Buelk.  The three winners from the Amateurs…..First place: Gerry Bousquet; Second place: Bob Tager and Third place: Randy Radke. Congratulations! Thanks again to all of you who participated to support this event. Dennis will continue to put on these matches every Wednesday starting at 5:45 pm. See y’all next week on the Single Mingles night shift!

Our summer Pot Luck (PL) Dinner was attended by twenty-one (20) CMS Club members and Rex’s guest, Jean Galusha. A shout-out of appreciation to the kitchen helpers and their table/chair arrangers. The delish covered PL dishes and desserts brought in by the participants where most plentiful and yummy.

The 50/50 drawing winner, conducted by Joan Best, was Johnnie Conner. Allen Best once again reminded us to participate in the upcoming 9am Saturday morning (July, 30th) meeting of “ideas” in preparation for our Club’s 80th Anniversary in 2017. Mona Carkner gave Allen a basket of suspicious looking bottled drinks and “Mouse” Wolven announced his acquisition of “buggy whip” cues to up his and Mona’s shuffleboard game to put us all in the “kitchen”.

Some of the members stayed to play Bunco and the participants left fuller and heavier after the fantastic spread of food. Until next time, chaio!

Today’s Thursday Morning Four-Play matches attracted Twenty-Seven (27) steadfast shufflers who showed up for some sweltering summertime shuffling competition. This week Mona Carkner was the only shuffler to win all four of her matches. Congratulations! Most participants are looking forward on returning to shuffle on Flagler Avenue next week. See you then.

On Saturday, July 30th at 9:00 am, before regular 10 am play, Allen Best would like to have a Special Meeting to discuss the planning options for our 80th Anniversary. We need to discuss what we can do to Celebrate this Special Event properly. Please bring your ideas to the meeting. If you are unable to attend, please email your ideas to. joanbest811@gmail.com and Allen will bring your ideas to the meeting.  Hope to see you all there as this is an important event for the CMS Club.

Allen Best has a request for all shufflers. When you are setting up the courts for play please be careful to spread the beads correctly. If you are not sure how to properly apply the beads, please ask. We have been going through a lot of beads this summer. The bags are $107.00 per bag, so we need to be conservative. Thanks for your attention to this request.

Just a quick note to remind you about the Pot Luck Covered Dish Dinner planned for this Friday, July 22 at 5:30 pm. Please remember to sign up on the sheet posted in the cue house. Hope to see you there for socializing and good food. If we have enough people sign up, there will be a friendly game of Bunco following dinner.

Today’s Thursday Morning Four-Play matches attracted twenty-one (21) staunch shufflers who showed up for some summertime shuffling competition. The contests proved to be tough enough where no one was able to win all four of their matches. There were nine ties of three match winners. Most shufflers went home determined to come back next week to see if they will be lucky enough to become a four match winner. See you then.
