The ND was finally able to finish the Any Doubles Tournament that was begun in Deland on Oct 1st, but postponed by rain. The finals were held this past Saturday, Oct 28th.
Congratulations to the following CMS finalists.

The Northern District No Two Pros Tournament on October 26th in Mid Florida Lakes with 36 teams was a very difficult tournament. We would like to Congratulate CMS Member, Mary Ann Pabst and her partner from Deland, Joseph Inga who came in Fourth In Consolation.
For more information about the tournament, please visit the Northern District Website.
Rich and his outstanding court crew arrived early to set up the courts for October’s Fun Day. The ace kitchen crew arrived to set up the tables, beautiful Halloween decorations, coffee, donuts and cookies as well as setting up for lunch when we finished the event.
Barb Fortini registered the participants and collected the entry free while Allen Best set up the captains and assigned the teams. Joan Best collected for the 50/50. We had nine (9) teams with a captain plus two or three players on each team. We played all twenty courts and scored ten points for each disc properly placed. When we finished playing, the courts were cleaned and disc’s waxed while the scores were being tallied. After a great lunch of hot dogs, chips, drinks and deserts, the 50/50 ticket was drawn. Tom Carbonell won the pot.
Then Allen announced the top three teams. First Place: John Fortini’s team with 1500 points (Jane and Bob Tager and Randy) . Second Place: Don Nephew’s team with 1150 points (Rose Sargent, Joyce DiPietro and Tom Carbonell) . Third Place: Barb Fortini’s team with 1100 points (Allen Best, Betty Buccini and a ghost player). Everyone had a great time and all shared in the booty. Hope to see you for November’s Fun Day! Ciao!
Second place, Tom, Rose, Don and Joyce
These are pictures of the winners. I have many more pictures from the event, but Photobucket is down and I cannot make them post. Please come back later to see all the fun pictures from the event.
I finally got the pictures to load from Fun Day!
The usual volunteers showed up to clear the courts from the rain last night and prepare the courts for morning play. Dennis Buelk collected the registration fees and explained the rules of the game. Eight (8) Pros/State Ams and Eight (8) Amateurs showed up for the challenge. We each played five matches with 12 frames apiece. Dennis then tallied the winning scores at the end of play.
The Winners were: Pros – First Place; Darrel Harman, Second Place; Randy Radke, Third Place; Bob Tager. Amateurs – First Place; Jerry Jabaut ( won all five of his matches), Second Place; Rose Sargent and Third Place; Barb Rush. Congratulations. A good time was had by all. Hope to see you next time on Tuesday November 14th. Ciao!
This Saturday, Oct 28th, is FUN DAY. Please Remember to sign up in the Cue House so we know how many Hot Dogs to cook. It is open to all members of the CMS Club. Come test your skills and luck against the obstacles we place on all 20 courts. There is a $1.00 registration fee which includes a hot dog lunch. Teams that place in the First, Second and Third positions will share in the winnings. It is great fun, so come on down at 9:45 am to be assigned to a team and enjoy the camaraderie! After the games we will have hot dogs, chips and drinks in the club house. See you there!
See attached examples of the obstacles we follow.
Just a reminder that Singles Mingles is this Tuesday. Please be there prior to 8:45 AM to register and pay your $2.00 entry fee. Game starts at 9:00 sharp. We play five games with twelve frames each game. We will pair as many amateurs with a pro as we can, depending on who shows up. The top three amateurs and top three pros take home the winnings. Hope to see you there. Ciao!
After having the finals of our Northern District Tournament earlier in the day, it was a relief to relax and spend some quality time socializing over dinner. We had 25 members attend and bring a large variety of wonderful dishes to share. Bob Finta and Carol came with her wonderful homemade cookies. Allen Best was feeling better so he was able to join us for dinner. Allen welcomed new members and some of our returning Snow Birds. Joan Best collected the 50/50 and lead us in a prayer. Social Mahjong Members Patrick and Barb Clark won the 50/50 pot. After dinner 16 members stayed to play Bunco. See you at November’s Pot Luck. Ciao!
Thursday, Oct 19, was the first day of the Northern District Any Doubles Tournament at the CMS Shuffleboard Courts. Candy and Richard Kordeleski arrived early to start preparing the facilities for the tournament. Candy made the coffee and arranged the kitchen. Rich blew the leaves away and prepped all eleven courts we needed for the day. Tom Rimmer came early to help as well. Johnnie Conner and Betty Buccini had decorated the hall with lovely Fall colors and beautiful center pieces on the tables. Barb Nephew and Betty Buccini took care of the entry fees, Joan Best collected the 50/50 and the tournament directors Rich and Caroline Burrell signed the players up and assigned them their courts. Allen Best was home sick so our VP Johnnie Conner took over to welcome the participating players. During the day our volunteers stepped in to help the players by waxing discs and beading courts. Thanks to all our volunteers, Don Nephew, Diane Hamas, Gerry Bousquet, Lorretta Cantalupo, Bob Stock and Barb Fortini.
We had 22 Teams participating in the tournament. We thank our tournament sponsors Climatron, Inc from Daytona Beach and the Coronado/Mainland Shuffleboard Club.
Congratulations to all the members of the CMS Shuffleboard club who participated and especially our Finalists:
1st Place Main – Dennis Buelk and Tom Rimmer
3rd Place Main – Randy Radke and Bonnie Radke
1st Place Cons – Darrel Harman and Rex Galusha
