Singles Mingles has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 9th at 8:45 am

The Northern District Tournament on January 11th and 12th will be Pro Doubles and Amateur Doubles. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO SIGN UP IN THE CLUB HOUSE.

NOTE:   We have rescheduled the court clean up  for Wednesday, January 10th before Intercity.  Please arrive at 11:00 if you are volunteering to help clean the courts for the ND Tournament.

PLEASE NOTE: Singles Mingles for December 26th and January 9th have been CANCELLED. The next regular scheduled Singles Mingles will be Tuesday, January 23rd at 9:00 an.   Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

The early set up crew arrived at 1:00 pm to set up the tables and chairs for our Christmas Pot Luck Dinner followed by some afternoon shuffleboard. Everyone started arriving at 5:00 pm for social time and food setup. So much mouth watering food and great company.

The club supplied two hams cooked by the  Joan Best and Barb Fortini. Also a turkey cooked by Debbie Evans. We had close to 50 members bring food to celebrate the holidays. Joan said a prayer for those who were ill and/or were traveling this season. Al Best made some club  announcements and congratulated Sid Pomainville (84 y0)  for coming in Second in the Main after a twelve (12) year break from tournaments.   We had a 50/50 drawn by Randy Radke and won by Mouse Wolven. Following a wonderful dinner, the tables and chairs were put away and some of the members stayed for a friendly game of Bunco. Casey came dressed as a Christmas Tree.  (was her costume for a fund raiser).  Hopefully everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. See you all Next Year.

This morning was Singles Mingles. The early morning crew showed up to clean the courts and set up for play. It was really cold, so we decided to play on courts 19 and 20 in the sun. Six (6) Pro/State Ams and Four (4) Amateurs came for the early morning challenge. We had two buys. After all five games had been played, Dennis tallied up the scores.

Pro Winners: First Place Rex Galusha; Second Place Felix Piscitelli and Third Place Dennis Buelk.

Amateur Winners: First Place Jean Tardif; Second Place Rose Sargent. Congratulations to all the winners. We hope to see you on December 26th for our next Singles Mingles. Happy Holidays.

Just a Reminder that we have Singles Mingles tomorrow 12/12. Please be there no later than 8:30 am so we can get everyone registered and our entry fees paid. Play begins at 9:00 am. The Northern District, Pro Doubles and Amateur Doubles Tournament was held at the CMS Shuffleboard courts, December 7th and 8th.  Rich Kordeleski and John Fortini came early  to set up the courts and the rest of the volunteer team joined them to do a fantastic job of getting the courts ready for play and supporting the players during the tournament. Donna King was the director for this tournament and CMS Club was the sponsor. Candy led the kitchen crew getting the donuts, coffee, tables and snacks ready for the shufflers.  Carol Finta brought her wonderful cookies for our enjoyment.  Johnnie and Betty did a great job decorating the Hall.  Rose Sargent won the 50/50 drawing.  We would like to THANK ALL OF OUR WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS.  So many people working so hard to make this tournament a success.  Congratulations to all the shufflers who participated in our tournament.

Northern District Tournament Pro Doubles and Amateur Doubles will take place Thursday and Friday, Dec 7/8th. There will be no regular play on those two days. We still need volunteers to help support the tournament. Hope to see you there for club support. Come cheer us on!

I have been asked to post some information on our Intercity Competitions for some of our newer members. The CMS Club has three teams competing every Wednesday throughout the Winter season. We compete against Deland, Orange City and Ormond Beach. Our Teams are Red, White and Blue. If you are interested in participating next year you can contact one of our team captains. Rich Kordeleski manages the White team, Mary Ann Pabst manages the Blue team and Al Bessette manages our Red team.  We start at 12:00 noon (court assignments and snacks) on Wednesdays and start (at 1:00 pm) three matches for each team to 75 points.  The scores are recorded and at the end of the season the teams have a Play-off based on their winning averages.  This is the schedule for this year.

Joseph C. “Joey” Shebester 1952 – 2017

Joe Shebester – passed away at home November 29,2017. Survived by his devoted and loving wife Gerda Jodi, her children Richelle (Bryan) Kovener, Elise (Brad) Watkins, Wes (Angie) Hartley, six grandchildren, sister Carol Winn.
