The Coronado/Mainland Shuffler

The usual clean up crew arrived to clean and dry the courts for the Thursday Morning Four Play Challenge, but the weather looked questionable. Only Eight (8) shufflers showed up for the challenge due to the weather. We drew two courts with partners and played only two games when it started to drizzle. We even tried drying the courts when it stopped part way through in hopes we could continue. Sadly our games were rained out. Hope to see you back again next week for a new challenge. Ciao!

Mark Engel sent me this notice and though I did not know her, I am sure our older competitors in the Northern District did. We sadly announce that FSA Past President Landy Adkins passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 16. Her daughter, Dawn, has informed me that her remains will be cremated and taken to Indiana. Per Landy’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.

The usual clean up crew arrived to set up the courts for the Thursday Morning Four Play Challenge. We ended up with Twelve (12) enthusiastic players. Shufflers each played four hard fought matches recording their wins at the end of each match. With nine Pro and three Amateur Shufflers, it was very competitive. When the dust had cleared, no one was able to win all four games. We had a great time and hope to see more of you back here again next week. Ciao!

I had an unexpected note from Felix’s daughter, Phyllis.

I am writing  to you requesting that you post something in the Coronado Shuffle Board Club news letter, about his recent heart surgery and tremendous recovery at 88 years old.(89 this August).

I am sending a PDF of a letter he wrote about his event, that he would like to have posted. Thank you for your caring support, he truly appreciates all the well wishes he receives.

The usual clean up crew arrived early to clean the courts for the Thursday Morning Four Play Challenge. Twelve (12) shufflers showed up for the challenge. We played our usual four games recording the winners after each game and drawing a new partner/ court for the next game. After all four games, we congratulate Randy Radke and Zak Wonson for winning all four of their matches. Hope to see you all back here again next week. Ciao!

So we had a small “steaming” weather tested group show up to shuffle in the Thursday Morning Four Play Challenge.  I was not able to attend so Dennis stepped-in and Tom Carbonell sent me the pictures with the results. They had Eight (8) shufflers come for the challenge. No one was able to win all four games but Zak and Jerry each found a way to win at least three (3) matches. Congratulations! Hope to see more of you shuffling at next week’s challenge.  Ciao!

Today we had four courts full for our Saturday morning shuffleboard. We had a nice surprise when NSB Mayor, Russ Owen came by to shuffle with us. Pres.Tom Carbonell  took him under his wing with some instructions that helped Russ with his game. Glad to have him come by and join us any time. Everyone is always welcome. Ciao!

The usual clean up crew arrived early to clean up the debris from last night’s storm. Twenty (20) shufflers showed up on this beautiful morning for the Thursday Morning Four Play Challenge. We played all four of our matches recording the winners, drawing new courts and partners after each matches. At the end of the day Seven (7) of us managed to win three matches but no one was able to get all four. Today was a really good challenge.
