The Coronado/Mainland Shuffler

The Executive Board Meeting began at 10:00 am. Tom Carbonell, Johnnie Connor, Barb Fortini, Arlene Jabaut, Tom Grubb, Jerry Jabaut and John Fortini were present. Dennis Buelk and Allen Best were absent. They discussed how well the tournament had gone and congratulated Zak and his committee in dealing successfully with our sponsors. The minutes will follow at a later date. The meeting was adjourned.

The General Board Meeting began at 11:00 am. There were twelve (12) members plus the board in attendance. The minutes will follow. When the meeting was adjourned, several of the members stayed to play shuffleboard.  I would just like to mention that we now have 154 club members.  We would appreciate seeing more members next month since only twelve members attended this meeting.   This club needs our member’s support in order to function more efficiently.  These meetings occur only four times a year on the first Sat of the month from November thru March.   Hope to see you next month. Our Tournament was a success with the help of all our wonderful volunteers. Tom Carbonell came the day before to set up the tables before Johnnie Conners came out to decorate all the tables.  Tom also supplied us with his wonderful pulled pork sandwiches and soup.  Rich and Candy Kordeleski, Arlene and Jerry Jabaut, John and Barb Fortini, and Mary McConnell helped to get the kitchen and the courts ready. We were pleased to welcome Ten (10) Amateur Teams and Seventeen (17) Pro Teams for the challenge. Bonnie Radke was the Director and with the help of Rick Enright, we got  the tournament off to a smooth start. We also had some wonderful sponsors who supplied flyers and banners. Please visit our sponsors and let them know you are from the Coronado/Mainland Shuffleboard Club and would like to thank them for their support. Thanks to our volunteers who cleaned discs and swept courts during the tournament; Jack Koppelma, Barb Hales, Gerry Bousquet, Joan Sanford, the Kordeleskis and the Jabauts. Congratulations to all our Coronado Shufflers, visiting teams and finalists.

Just wanted to remind everyone that we have our Executive Board Meeting tomorrow at 10:00 am and the General Board Meeting at 11:00 am. The meetings are only held five times a year and it is important that everyone attend these meetings. There will be shuffling following the meeting at 12:00 noon. There is no shuffling allowed during the meetings.  Thanks for your attention to this meeting.

Today dawned pretty cold but Jerry and Arlene Jabaut arrived early and began blowing and cleaning the courts. This job was made easy by all the work Tom Carbonell did previously. Mary McConnell and Dave Helverson came next. Randy and Bonnie Radke came to help along with Bill Boyes and Joan Sanford. Together we cleaned all the discs, waxed courts 9 thru 12, washed the remaining courts, sponges and scoreboards. Arlene swept and vacuumed the cue house while the courts were being waxed. We still need volunteers to work the Tournament on Thursday and Friday. You do not need to stay the whole day. The sign up sheet has different times you would work. We have a lot of players coming. We need your help. Thanks for all the hard work. Ciao!

We Need Volunteers for our ND Tournament on Thursday and Friday. Many of our usual volunteers will be playing in the tournament so we need other members to sign up to help. You will be asked to wax discs and re-bead courts. We would love to have you cheer our team on to the win. Please sign up in the cue house for the hours you can work. This morning was really chilly but we still had Fifteen (15) hardy souls show up for the Singles Mingles Challenge. By the time we had cleaned the courts we were already shedding our extra jackets. Dennis collected the entry fee and explained the rules. We played five matches of 12 frames, recording the winners at the end of play. When we were finished playing, Dennis tallied up the scores while the rest of us cleaned the courts. The winners were: Pro/State Ams: First: Zak Wonson, Second: Randy Radke, and Third: Mouse Wolven. Amateurs: First Tom Carbonell, Second: Cindy Wonson and Third: Jerry Jabaut. Congratulations to all the winners. Hope to see you back here next month. Have a Very Happy Thanksgiving. Ciao!

Just a reminder that Singles Mingles is Tuesday starting at 8:45. We will all then be busy with family and friends……..Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. The SIGN UP SHEETS for Work Day and for Tournament Day will be posted in the Cue House. Please note that this tournament is actually two, Pro Only and Amateur Only so we will need plenty of volunteers to help with the courts and the discs.
