We all got together for a little shuffleboard today. Fortini’s were in charge of the cue house. Approximately Thirteen (13) shufflers came to play. A good start for the Memorial Day weekend.

The very first authorized post Covid-19 shuffleboard play started at 1:30 pm today. Eight (8) shufflers played on two (2)courts. Everything seemed to be working well as per Zak Wonson’s directive. It seemed to be very noticeable that the discs ran very smoothly and quietly during play because of the efforts of Zak using 1000 grit sandpaper on the old discs. Follow Zak’s schedule for additional play this week.

We have been having problems with vandalism on our courts. Kids riding bikes and skateboards that damage the courts. Yesterday after the crew worked so hard waxing and cleaning the courts, Marty Bystrom caught pictures of the kids doing the damage. The picture was sent to the police and this was their answer. Please take pictures of the kids if you see them and call the police to report the crime.  Do you recognize these kids?

” Lt. Kirk sent me the email and photos that were sent to him about the juveniles on the shuffle board courts.  I am going to notify all officers to extra patrol the courts and trespass anyone clearly violating the rules and operating recreational wheeled vehicles (skateboards, bicycles, etc..) on the courts.  In the future if any members or the club or anyone at all, sees someone on the courts who do not belong can you please instruct them to call 386-424-2000, this is the non-emergency number and an officer can respond to the scene to issue the trespass warning or make an arrest if a vandalism is occurring.  We try to patrol all of the city parks regularly, but with the increase in beach traffic and call volume, it can be difficult for officers to have the time to do so on some days. However, when we are notified and a call for service is created, an officer will always respond to the scene as soon as they are able.  We will try to identify the juveniles in the photos we received so they can be issued trespass warnings from the courts. “

Rich Kordeleski’s court maintenance crew waxed the courts this Sunday morning and they look great (see pictures). Also, there is a picture of the city’s new installed key pad lock system on the West door of the cue house. They also installed a deadbolt lock on the East side door of the cue house. Walked down to the courts today and Mike, Tom and Rich we’re power washing and sterilizing the courts before waxing on Sunday. Hard work getting us ready to play.

Zak, Jerry and Mike have been working hard to clean and sterilize the courts and cue house. Today Zak and Jerry were cleaning discs and tomorrow Mike will be washing everything down with clorox. We will let you know when we can start coming to play. No Chips just pick up games with friends. No one allowed in the Cue House except a designated person. All will be explained shortly. Stay tuned. We also took a picture of one of the new chickens. They all seem to be healthy.

Frank Cherill was presented with his HOF jacket in March, so we send our congratulations to him. His name has now been added to the Northern District Hall of Fame web page. However, we do need a PICTURE of Frank in his jacket for the HOF page. If anyone has one, please send it along to shuffleboardbill@gmail.com.

Zak was contacted by Dave Ray, Director of Leisure Services yesterday. He had men at the courts doing repairs and they called him and told him that people had gone into the cue house and taken equipment and were playing. He wanted to let me know as I had just sent a message to the town on Monday reiterating that we were closed. He had read a copy of that.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE COURTS UNTIL THE CITY GIVES APPROVAL. If we do not follow requirements, we could lose our courts. Please be patient and stay safe.
