Barb and John Fortini have been enthusiastic CMS Club members for the past four years. They came South to Florida five years ago from Hoosick, NY. John is a retired engineer and Barb is a retired bank branch manager. Together they have four boys, 3 grandchildren and one beautiful great grand child. Barb and John are well-liked members of the CMS Club who enjoy living in New Smyrna Beach.

We had 19 guests come to enjoy our May Pot Luck Dinner. The food was great including meatballs, lasagna, cheese covered potatoes, green bean casserole, kale salad and much much more. And then there were the desserts, everyone always loves the deserts. After a good “feast”, 15 of us stayed to play Bunco. In playing Bunco, I had my very first experience playing with a “ghost” player. Bob and Jane Tager tied for the most Buncos and split the prize. Joan and Randy tied for the most games won and also split their prize. Jim Jacobsen won the prize for the least wins. All in all, fun and camaraderie was had by all.

This morning’s Four-Play had 27 participants. Dennis Buelk, for the second week in a row, was able to win all four of his games.

Just wanted to remind everyone about the Pot Luck Dinner on Friday, May 29 at 5:30 for a good dinner and Bunco afterwards. No entertainment this time so we will have to supply all the food.

Allen Best (President), called for volunteers to participate in the CMS Work Day and 16 members answered the call.
The morning work day was warm and sunny with a light breeze. The enthusiastic work started at 8 am and the volunteer workers were greeted with donuts and coffee. We all finished up around noon. Sixteen members showed up to help wash the courts, scrub them down, dry them and then apply the wax. Some of them painted the white trim on the posts and others touched up the discs with new numbers. Allen re-numbered all the chips used to choose courts and partners. Darrel swept and washed out the club house floor. The CMS Club would like to thank the following volunteers: Allen Best, Ron Raymond, Randy and Bonnie Radke, Rex Galusha, Wayne Lockwood, Jim Jacobsen, Charlie Jones, Rich Kordeleski, Dennis Buelk, Darrel Harman, John Fortini, Ted Hauptman, Joe Shebester, Tom Grubb and Don Nephew. The courts look great!
George Karras has been an enthusiastic member of the CMS Club ever since he decided to live in Florida 15 years ago, coming by way of Oklahoma. He was born in New York City (Manhattan) and now lives in Port Orange, Florida.
When he arrives at the club, he always greets you enthusiastically by shaking your hand. But when he is assigned to a court, he gets excited by the challenge and wants to get busy playing shuffleboard.
Win or lose, it is always enjoyable to play with George because of his determination, skill in placing his discs and knowledge of how the game is played.

Tuesday May 19th, 8:00 AM, will be a work day for the CM Shuffleboard club. We need volunteers to help with washing and waxing all the courts. Please contact Allen Best 302-841-0251 to let him know you are available to help. The courts should be finished so we can have evening shuffleboard. Thanks for your help.
Thursday Morning was an absolutely gorgeous day to play shuffleboard. Paradise is a balmy breeze, standing on a shuffleboard court with your friends (30) playing at your side. The images of the two four game winners, Bonnie and Stan, were taken from a previous Four-Play outing where the breeze was a bit colder. We are all glad to have CMS facilities in paradise.
