Tuesday, October 4th was the Shuffleboard Segment of the 27th Annual Senior Games. Joe Shebester was the Shuffleboard Official for the games with an assist from Rich and Candy Kordeleski. They all arrived early to prepare the courts for match play. Candy set up the coffee, tables and donuts. We had Seven (7) Ladies and Twelve (12) Men show up to participate in the shuffleboard challenge. Participants each played four games with 12 frames for each of their games. The ladies had one Round Robin. Everyone recorded their scores with Joe. The highest scorers for the ladies and men also received their shuffleboard awards from Joe Shebester. Lady’s Gold Medal: Johnnie Connor, Silver Medal: Connie Bousquet and Bronze Medal: Barb Fortini (left before her Photo Op). Men’s Gold Medal: Rich Kordeleski, Silver Medal: Tim Pergrem and a tied for the Bronze Medal: John Fortini and Jim Jacobsen. Congratulations to all!

We had some sad news this morning from Bill Boyes. Our friend and fellow shuffler, Roland Gilles passed away on September 3rd in Wisconsin. Please see attached obituary notice. The club will be sending a sympathy card. He will be missed.

After an all night down-pour, helpers showed up to squeegee, dry and prepare the courts for the FINAL Thursday Morning Four-Play matches of the summer season. We had several returning snow birds join in for these final matches. Al Bessette gave a short announcement about the up coming Northern District’s competitive season schedule. Al also gave a hearty shoutout to Ron Raymond and his helper Tom Rimmer for successfully overseeing these summer Thursday morning matches and he asked if we wanted to have Thursday Morning Four-Play matches scheduled again for next year. The participants answered Al their approval with a hearty Yes.
Twenty-eight (28) devoted players showed up for this season’s final matches. We had Two Four Game Winners: Stan Williamson and John Giumarra. Congratulations! We look forward to reporting on our CMS Club members who will participate in the upcoming tournament season. Thanks to Ron, Tom and all the participants for a great summer of Thursday Morning Four-Play matches.

Just a quick reminder that tonight is the LAST Singles Mingles Night for this year. It is open to all members who want a little competition. The participation fee is only $2.00, which is all returned to the top three finishers among PROs and Amateurs. The Single Mingles matches are a good deal of fun. We meet at 5:45 pm. We play five games of twelve frames each and all matches should be finished by around 9 pm. It is not necessary to be single to participate. Looking forward to seeing you tonight. Our summer Pot Luck (PL) Dinner was attended by twenty-one (21) CMS Club members. The PL dishes and desserts brought in by the participating members where most plentiful and yummy. A shout-out of appreciation goes out to the kitchen helpers and their table/chair arrangers.
The 50/50 drawing, conducted by Joan Best, was won by Gerry Bousquet (…he wins again!). The participants left a little heavier after partaking from the delightful culinary delights. Some of the members stayed to play Bunco. Until next time, chaio!

And yet another RAINOUT – It looked ominous when we arrived after a heavy rain but three (3) stalwart shufflers still showed up, squeegeed, cleaned and beaded a court. We managed to play one and a half friendly matches of round robin when lightning made us a little anxious. The black clouds rolled in and the rain unloaded on us. The rain was relentless, so we packed it in and went home……until next time! Adios!
