Last night was the End of Season Banquet that happens to fall on our 80th Anniversary year. We had over 80 members attend the banquet. Marguerite, Paul, Johnnie, Betty and the usual crew had apparently set up all the tables and decorated them earlier in the day. By the time the attendees arrived at 5:00 pm, everything was looking marvelous.
Don and Barb Nephew greeted us at the door to take our tickets while That’s Amore’ employees were swiftly setting up the dinner buffet tables. Everyone choose their seats, got their drinks and enjoyed a social hour with a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Allen Best began the proceedings by welcoming all of us and having our newest members stand up and be recognized. Joan Best led us in the evening prayer and then the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag
Allen gave the highlights of our ending season while also mentioning that we had brought home both trophies (A&B) for Inter City and both Trophies for Amateur Men and Amateur Women in the Tournament of Champions. He also thanked Cindy and Zak and their “crew” for helping make our 80th Anniversary celebratory event a resounding success.
Mary Harlow announced the winners for Scoring; Felix Piscitelli with 747 for the men and Candy Kordeleski with 660 for the women. Bob Finta lead the Installation of new Officers, John Fortini and Jerry Jabaut, who were voted in as members of the Executive Board. Allen also thanked outgoing Arden McConnell and Don Nephew for the time they had put in as members of the Executive Board. A shout out went to everyone who had volunteered and helped to make this season a whopping success.
Allen gave out the door prizes, everything from Smoothies to dinners, but the big prize of the evening went to Mary McConnell. Mary won a beautiful afghan made by Carol Finta. The food was good, the company was great and we all had a very good time. Today is the beginning of Daylight Savings and the coming end of a wonderful, enjoyable, fun social/shuffleboard season. Soon at month’s end, our “SnowBirds” will head back North and we will settle in to relax and await the beginning of another CMS Club season. Ciao!
