Singles Mingles Results – January 9, 2018

The clean up and prep crew arrived early to squeegee the courts after last night’s showers. Ten (10) Amateurs and Eight (8) State Am/Pros arrived for this morning’s challenge. Dennis Buelk, Match Coordinator and Tallyman, explained the rules to everyone. We had two bye’s in the Amateur group. We only played four matches of 12 frames each from which the the winners recorded their scores. The fifth match was rained-out so the winners were determined on only four games.

Pro/State Am Winners were: First Place; Randy Radke, Second Place; Felix Piscitelli and Third Place; Dennis Buelk.

Amateur Winners were: First Place; Jerry Jabaut (Coming Back Strong!), Second Place; Paul Fortier, and Third Place; Tom Grubb.

Congratulations! See you back in two weeks. Ciao!

Pros/State Ams, Randy, Felix and Dennis

Jane Murphy (1924 – 2017)

Bob Finta sent this notification for posting:
Jane and her husband were CMS Club members for many years. They started out with the  Edgewater Shuffleboard Club and their penchant for shuffleboard allowed them to move on to play local tournaments during the summer with the CMS Club.  The CMS Club sends their prayers and sincere condolences to her family.

Both were delightfully friendly people who would sit down and chat with their fellow members for hours. Memorial arrangements will be held in Ohio.

First Executive Board/General Board Meeting – Jan 6, 2018

Saturday was our first Executive Board Meeting of the New Year. The Minutes will be posted in the Cue House. Allen Best, President, called the meeting to order and we discussed painting the courts, the Mayor’s Memorial/Club Memorial Tournament, the Mardi Gras Parade and our upcoming Northern District Tournament. We also discussed preliminary preparations for the end of season CMS Annual Club Banquet.

Allen called the General Meeting to order with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Twenty-four (24) members attended the meeting. Allen mentioned the new posted updated schedule and asked Bill Boyes for a report on nominations for the Executive Board. It is very important that we have a full Executive Board in charge of running the club, so if you are interested in stepping up, please contact Bill Boyes, Candy Kordeleski or Don Nephew.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT TOURNAMENT SCHEDULED ON OUR COURTS THIS COMING THURSDAY AND FRIDAY.

Bill Boyes had been nominated to be a Life Member. We took a secret ballot and his Life Membership was approved FOR THIS NOTABLE CLUB HONOR.  Congratulations Bill.

The Executive Board Meeting scheduled for March 3rd has been MOVED TO MONDAY, MARCH 5TH AT 9:00 AM followed by the GENERAL BOARD MEETING AT 10:00 AM.  The final Intercity Competition/Banquet in Deland is scheduled for March 6th or 7th (rain day). This is where the winning Club Trophies are awarded for this Intercity season’s end.

The End of Season CMS Club Banquet has been moved to March 24th.  It will be a Potluck Dinner with the tickets being offered at $5.00 so the club can purchase a sumptuous Turkey, Ham and Roast Beef.  Everyone else will bring assigned delicious sides and desserts.  Our membership’s home cooking is better, more diverse and much more economical than a lot of the restaurants. Stay tuned, ciao!
