The Coronado/Mainland Shuffler

Al Bessette has just sent around an email. I JUST RECEIVED SAD NEWS THAT JACK WOOTEN HAS DIED. HE HAS BEEN AILING FOR SOME TIME. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED AS HE DID A LOT FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT. I HAVE NO OTHER INFO AT THIS TIME. PAT KING WAS WHO CALLED ME.

RIP Jack we have appreciated all that you have done for shuffleboard.

The Northern District Any Doubles Tournament was held in Deland on October 4th and 5th. We would like to commend the Seventeen (17) self identifying Coronado/Mainland Shufflers who participated in this tournament.. Twenty-five (25) ND teams took part in this tournament.

Congratulations go out to the following CMS Shuffleboard winners.

Consolation:– First Place. Rex Galusha and Zak Wonson: Second Place, Dennis Buelk and Tom Rimmer: Fourth Place, Edna Triplett and Dee Metz (Deland).

Carolyn Burrell, ND Director, oversaw a very well organized tournament. Thank you to the Deland Shuffleboard Club leadership for providing well prepared facilities and tournament support.

The usual clean up crew came early to set up for our last Thursday Morning Four-Play Challenge of the season. Twenty (20) enthusiastic players came to play. We each played four matches. We Congratulate Rex Galusha for being the only shuffler to win all four of his matches. Next week starts our 2018-2019 Winter Season of  Northern Tournament matches, so please check with our Club Schedule on the board in the Cue House or on the website. See you on the courts.  Ciao!

I had posted previously a request to know if anyone else was coming to the dinner. Since then I am sad to say I was notified that Allen Best’s father past away yesterday, so he and Joan will also not be there. We are sorry for his loss.  THE POT LUCK DINNER FOR 9/21 TODAY HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

So far we only have 7 people signed up for the dinner. If you are planning to come, please let me know by tonight or I will be forced to cancel the dinner. It is fun for us all to eat together but it is also a lot of work setting everything up. Hope everyone can come. Please let me know. Thanks

This morning the usual clean-up crew showed up to prepare the courts for our Thursday Morning Four-Play Challenge. We had Twenty-Three (23) enthusiastic players show up for the TMF-P Challenge. One court was a “Round Robin”. Each shuffler played four matches. We Congratulate Charlie Jones, Debbie Evans, Bonnie Radke and Dennis Buelk for winning all four (4) of their matches. The usual morning (very humid) clean up crew came early to prepare the courts for our Thursday Morning Four-Play Challenge. We had Thirty-One (31) enthusiastic players come for the challenge including two players from the Lakeland Shuffleboard Club  We each played four matches.   At the end of play we must Congratulate Bob Tager for being the only shuffler  to win all four of his matches.   We have two more weeks of play before the end of summer season so we hope to see you all next week.  Ciao!
