Florida Shuffleboard Association Hall of Fame – 11/6/18

From the Northern District, Sue McLaughlin and Allen Dronsfield will both be inducted into the Florida Shuffleboard Association Hall of Fame in January, rather fitting seeing how Sue and Allen also went into the District Hall of Fame together a couple of years ago.

Christine Giumarra

John sent us a note about Christine’s fall at our Tournament. “Just a word to let you know that Christine is doing fine. She has no broken bones but her right leg took a beating from the concrete.
Our thanks to everyone who rushed to her side and were so comforting and helpful. We love our shuffleboard friends.

November Fun Day Possibly on Sat. Nov. 17th

We currently do not have a Fun Day Scheduled for November. We are trying to determine if we would have enough people interested in holding the Fun Day if we did schedule it. There is a sign up sheet in the Cue House for sign up and we have ten people so far. We would need at least 20 people for it to be worthwhile to setup all the obstacles. Please either sign up on the sheet or send me an email (seawitch2@gmail.com) if you would be interested in participating.

For those members who are new to the club.  We have teams of four people competing against each other.  We set up the Twenty (20) courts with obstacles and each team tries to achieve the highest score on each court.  It is a lot of fun and you can be a beginner to play.

We would have the usual hot dog lunch following the games. Thanks for your interest in the event.  This is a members only event.   Hope we can get this done. Ciao!

Singles MIngles Was Not To Be – Oct 23, 2018

The usual clean up crew came to prepare the courts. Dennis Buelk normally runs the Singles Mingles, but he had to leave early, so he helped Bonnie set everything up. We had Nine (9) Pro/State Ams and Four (4) Amateurs show up to shuffle. Mother Nature stopped our second game from starting. We waited out the rain and cleared off the courts. Some of us finished the second game and then the rain poured down. We decided that more rain was coming so the entry fees were refunded and we went home. The high scorer for the two games was Randy Radke with 147 points. Second high score for two games was Edna Triplett with 124 points. Honey Donnelly was the high score for the Amateurs with 91 points. Not everyone finished their second game or did not put down the scores. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us next month on the Second Tuesday when we meet for another challenge. See you there. Ciao!

Pot Luck Dinner – October 19, 2018

Last night our monthly Pot Luck Dinner was held. We had already set up the tables following  the exciting completion of our two day ND Tournament. There was not much else to do but wait for the Pot Luck Dinner to socialize and eat.  Nineteen (19) members showed up to enjoy each others company for dinner. Plenty of wonderful dishes to share and so much to talk about. Tom Carbonell had us say a silent prayer for those who could not be with us and then made several announcements. He read off the ND Tournament results and recognized the CMS Club winners. We also learned that George Karras had won seven medals in the Senior Olympics, two of which were gold. We currently have 107 paid members for 2019. Time For Everyone Else To Pay Your Dues.
Following the dinner we put away the tables and set up for the usual evening game of Bunko. Sixteen CMS Club members stayed for the fun and games. Hope to see you all next month. Ciao!
