Mardi Gras Notice for this Tuesday, Mar 5th

Please Note: Those interested in helping decorate the float should meet at  the club house at 4:00 pm where we will also distribute beads.  From there we will proceed to Tom Grubb’s house across from the courts to decorate the float. We will then all gather at 5:30 pm in front of the Oceania Condos at 421 South Atlantic Ave. Please wear bright Mardi Gras colors (purple, green, gold) and if possible masks and hats for the fun. The parade will begin at 7:00 pm and usually takes approximately an hour to finish. We will be carrying signs and cue sticks. Beads will be thrown to the crowd along the parade route. Lots of fun and laughter. Come join us. See you there. Ciao!

Agenda for The Board Meetings.

Meeting agenda
The board meeting agenda is developed by the president and executive director with input from board members. The standard sequence for most meeting agendas is:
Call to order
Moment of silence
Pledge to Flag
Roll call of officers
Approve minutes of last meeting
Treasures / reports
Committee reports, requests for discussion/action
Unfinished business
New business
Confirm next meeting date
Adjourn

Unfinished business
Felix Piscitelli becoming a lifetime member, Barbara Fortini read the results of her investigation. Jerry Jabaut approved the report, seconded by John Fortini and the report was accepted. The nomination will be posted in the cue house on February 25 and voted on by secret ballot at the March 2 meeting.

Mardi Gras; Tom Grubb discussed the Mardi Gras parade coming up on March 5. We will post this event on the website meet up times and location.  5:00 Meet time at club house,  7:00 pm Parade time.

Signs; John Fortini presented a report from Al Best about the purchase of signs for the courts: No skateboarding or bikes allowed”. The city will get prices and then we will have to decide how many to purchase. This will be discussed at the General Meeting.

The election of the candidates will take place at the March 2 meeting with a secret ballot. To open nominations from the floor, the chair declares, “Nominations are now in order for the office of Board Director. Are there nominations for Board Director?”
CLOSING NOMINATIONS
According to Robert’s Rules, motions to close nominations are usually unnecessary because the nomination process simply continues until no one wants to make further nominations. When the nominations stop, the chair just declares nominations closed.
Vote
Voice Vote if position is unopposed.
Secret Ballot if position is opposed.

Requests for discussion/action
Year round start time 10am.

New Business:   Discuss holding the Masters Tournament next year 2020 season at our club with the Banquet portion of the day held at Quail Hollow with Stan Williamson as our host.

Wash and Clean Courts – Feb 25, 2019

Today was nice and cool for cleaning and waxing our courts in preparation for the Northern District Tournament coming to us this Thursday and Friday. A big Thank You to our Thirteen (13) volunteers who showed up to do the necessary prep-work. We had far less leaves to blow off the courts this morning due to Tom Carbonell’s hard work clearing off leaves on Sunday. We swept the courts and then washed and waxed them. Rich’s Son-In-Law, Gary Gonzalez, came from Ohio to visit and was volunteered to work on the courts. Thanks a lot! Gary sharpened all the pencils then he and Paul Fortier washed and polished the chalk boards after which he helped wax the courts. The sponges were all washed and the discs were also cleaned and waxed by our volunteers.

Thanks to all our Volunteers who help keep this club running. Tom Carbonell, Randy and Bonnie Radke, Wayne Biggs, Bob Stock, Paul Fortier, Joe Kasben, Bruce Bancroft, Al Best, Tim Pergrem, Rich Kordeleski and Felix Piscitelli. Tom Carbonell picked up Egg McMuffins from MacDonalds to feed some of our volunteers. Hope to see you again next time we need some volunteers.  Ciao!
