The Coronado/Mainland Shuffler

The CM Shuffleboard Club hosted the Northern District Tournament for both Pros and Amateurs on Nov 5th and 6th, 2015. Mike Baker and his company, Pressure Clean USA, once again sponsored this event which had a considerable turn out. Thirty-three (33) teams participated: 12 Amateur teams and 21 Pro teams.

AMATEUR RESULTS for CMS club member participants are:

MAIN EVENT: 1st place – Wayne Lockwood and Rex Galusha;  2nd place – Mike Baker and Tim Pergrem;  3rd place – Richard Kordeleski and John Fortini; 4th place – Bonnie and Randy Radke.

CONSOLATION:  3rd place – Jeffry Luneau and Bob Wolven (Ormond Beach).

PRO RESULTS for CMS club member participants are:

Main Event:  1st place;  Tom Rimmer and Darrel Harman;  4th place – Pete Peterson and Jerry Taylor.

CONSOLATION:  3rd place – Walt Vilk and Ivan Layton (Tavares).

CMS Fun Day was held on Saturday, Halloween, Oct 31, 2015. I was not able to attend so I would like to thank Allen Best and Betty Buccini for taking the pictures and getting them to me. Approximately 40 members attended, some in costume and some not. It appears like everyone had a great time with good food and good fun.

The Mid Florida Lakes Northern District “No Two Pros Tournament” took place on Oct. 29th and Oct. 30th. Approximately thirteen members of the CM Shuffleboard Club participated.  Both days were very sunny with a slight breeze.  The facilities and courts were beautifully prepared and maintained.  This Northern District Event’s support was provided by Donna King. Four CMS Club members made it to the finals and placed, qualifying them for winnings and bragging rights. CONGRATULATIONS!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! October 31 will be our Fun Day. Costumes are optional. This is a day where no experience is necessary, just a lot of fun with games of skill and challenges. Please come on down at 11:30 AM so we can get started at Noon. See you there.

Sid Pomainville is back for the Fall Season of cribbage.
The first game will start Monday, October 26th at 7:00 PM in our clubhouse. Everyone is welcome to play so please let everyone you know who plays cribbage about this start date. Thanks.

Saturday, November 7th is our first Board Meeting of the season at 10:30 AM to be followed by a General Members Meeting at 11:30 AM. These meetings help us organize the club and set the schedule for the coming season. All who are interested may attend. Thank you for your participation in the club.

Hey folks, Fall is here! Monday, November 2nd we start our regular daytime shuffle at 1:30 pm, Monday thru Saturday. We will continue to have our Tuesday and Thursday evening shuffle at 6:30 pm. See you all there!

We have quite a few people who have not paid their dues. There will be a list posted in the club house of people who owe their dues. Please give your money to Allen, Bonnie or Betty Bucicini. These dues need to be paid every year by October 1st, especially if you wish to participate in any tournaments. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

On October 22nd and 23rd the Northern District “Any Doubles Tournament” was held at the Coronado/Main Shuffleboard Club. Mike Baker/Tim Moore from Pressure Clean-USA sponsored this tournament. There were 28 enthusiastic teams who showed up to battle for bragging rights and winnings. Twenty-Four of the players were from the CM Shuffleboard Club. We had many volunteers show up early to prepare the courts, buffer the discs and put together other preparations to make the participants feel welcome. We had a quick sprinkle on Thursday and a smaller drizzle on Friday. Otherwise, the weather was very sunny with a slight breeze on both days. CONGRATULATIONS! The Final Standings are:

Main Event Finalists:  First Place – Rex Galusha and Wayne Lockwood; Second Place –  Edna Triplett and Tom Andrick; Third Place – Darrell Harmon and Mike Baker; Fourth Place – Don and Pat King.

On Tuesday morning we Cleaned, Washed and Waxed our courts with the help of 14 of our club volunteers. We would like to especially thank them for all their hard work. John Fortini, Wayne Lockwood, Dave Helverson, Tim Pergrem, Darrell Harmon, Joan and Allen Best, Mary and Arden McConnell, Charlie Jones, Dennis Buelk, Joe Shebester and Ron Raymond. The courts are all shiny and ready for the first Northern District Tournament to be held on our courts on Thursday, October 22nd and October 23rd.
