Well-Played! Please visit the Northern District Website if you would like more information and/or details for this tournament.

Marguerite and her kitchen crew (Candy and Barb Fortini) showed up early to start the coffee and put out the donuts and cakes. Rich and his crew (Joe Shebester, Felix, Allen Best, Tim Pergrem and Darrel) set up the courts for play as the enthusiastic shufflers began to arrive. Tom Grubb delivered the newly cleaned towels just in time (I think we used all of them on the second day).  Joan Best collected the 50/50, Connie Bousquet and Barb Nephew collected the entry fees.

Allen Best called us together to say a silent prayer and then lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Allen then pulled the 50/50 ticket.  Felix had the winning ticket.

Our rooster mascot was on the scene to check us all out and many spectators stopped to watch the play during the day. We received constructive comments about our recently waxed courts and newly renovated discs.  A BIG THANK YOU to all our volunteers (Connie Bousquet, Barb Nephew, Arlene, Gerry Bousquet, Paul Fortier and Debbie Evans) who helped out during the day, waxing the discs and re-beading the courts between matches.  Without our volunteers we would not have a functioning club.

The second day was a bit more challenging.  The final tournaments were played amid drizzling skies and sunshine.  We dried and re-beaded the courts and re-waxed the discs several times during the event.  Thanks to all who helped keep up.

CMS Club Clean-Up Work Day – Jan 10, 2017

CMS Club Work Day officially started today at 9 am and finished before 11 am. We had sixteen (16) enthusiastic Volunteers show up to wash, clean, wax and generally prepare our club facility for the upcoming Northern District’s PRO/AM Only Tournament to be held this coming Thursday.

Marguerite Fortier came in early to set-up the coffee, donuts and cake. She then began to work with Arlene, Debbie Evans, Bob Tager and Candy to clean-up all the scoreboards, erasers and benches. Randy, Rich, Bob Stock, Felix, Jerry, Dave, Darrell, Dennis, John Fortini and Arden started washing, cleaning and waxing the courts. John Fortini and Allen also worked and tested the electronics of the PA system. Bonnie, Arlene and Dennis worked on exchanging our daily play discs for newly cleaned and waxed replacement discs. Joe Rossitto showed up to check out all the action.

After a short snack break, the crew continued working on the courts. Darrel washed windows and even stayed after everyone was done to wash the cue house floor.  We even had two lovely ladies (looking to be trained by Dennis) come in to sign up to join the club as new members.  Thank you so much to all the volunteers who came by to help support the club. Working together only makes our club grow stronger.

General Board Meeting – January 7th

The General Board meeting began at 11:00 am with 27 participants including the Executive Board members.

We discussed the upcoming events for the club. The Mayors Tournament will be on Tuesday, February 7th at 8:30 am. There will be a $2.00 participation fee plus a contribution from the CMS Club to be used as prize money. The club will supply lunch in the form of subs, chips and drinks. The tournament will be run like the Singles Mingles matches. (depending on having enough participating pros that can be partnered with amateurs.)

PLEASE NOTE:  The previous published schedule is incorrect.  The CMS Club will be participating in the Mardi Gras Parade on Feb 28th at 7:00 pm.

We also discussed having a Novice Fun Day Tournament for those new members who are relatively inexperienced in match play.

Scoring, which was scheduled to follow the General Board meeting, was cancelled due to rain.  Even our mascot rooster was trying to stay out of the rain.

In the middle of our meeting  a determined lady and her dog came into the club house in-order to sign up as a new member.
