The Northern District held its Ladies and Mens Doubles in Hawthorne this past Thursday, Nov 2nd and Friday, Nov 3rd. There were Thirteen (13) ladies teams and although she lists herself as Deland, we would like to Congratulate our CMS Member Honey Donnelly and her partner Pat Moody from Mid Florida Lakes for coming in 4th in Consolation.

Sid is back and he has already started the Cribbage Games on Monday nights at 7:00 pm in the Club House.
Tim will be starting Euchre again this coming Wednesday, Nov 8th at 7:00 pm in the Clubhouse. There is a $1.00 entry fee that is all won back in prize money. Please come join us and we will all have a good time.
Sorry, I made a mistake, the Executive Board Meeting and General Board Meeting is November 4 not October. Thanks for letting me know.
This Saturday, Nov 4th at 10 am, is the new season’s first Executive Board Meeting to be followed at 11 am by the General Member Board Meeting. Please try your best to attend as we have to assign an Election Committee to help find members who would like to volunteer for the Executive Board. There are many positions that need to be filled, including President and Treasurer. We also use these meetings to set up our events for the year. Everyone is invited to attend. Hope to see you there.

We need all those who have not paid to get with Bonnie, Dennis, or Allen to receive your New 2017/2018 Membership Cards. To those of you who have already paid, thank you for your promptness. The ND was finally able to finish the Any Doubles Tournament that was begun in Deland on Oct 1st, but postponed by rain. The finals were held this past Saturday, Oct 28th.

The Northern District No Two Pros Tournament on October 26th in Mid Florida Lakes with 36 teams was a very difficult tournament. We would like to Congratulate CMS Member, Mary Ann Pabst and her partner from Deland, Joseph Inga who came in Fourth In Consolation.

Rich and his outstanding court crew arrived early to set up the courts for October’s Fun Day. The ace kitchen crew arrived to set up the tables, beautiful Halloween decorations, coffee, donuts and cookies as well as setting up for lunch when we finished the event.
Barb Fortini registered the participants and collected the entry free while Allen Best set up the captains and assigned the teams. Joan Best collected for the 50/50. We had nine (9) teams with a captain plus two or three players on each team. We played all twenty courts and scored ten points for each disc properly placed. When we finished playing, the courts were cleaned and disc’s waxed while the scores were being tallied. After a great lunch of hot dogs, chips, drinks and deserts, the 50/50 ticket was drawn. Tom Carbonell won the pot.
Then Allen announced the top three teams. First Place: John Fortini’s team with 1500 points (Jane and Bob Tager and Randy) . Second Place: Don Nephew’s team with 1150 points (Rose Sargent, Joyce DiPietro and Tom Carbonell) . Third Place: Barb Fortini’s team with 1100 points (Allen Best, Betty Buccini and a ghost player).
