Anyone for Pot Luck This Month?

I put up a sign up sheet for a Pot Luck Dinner for this Friday, June 21 at 5:00 pm.  As Allen always says, “We have to eat somewhere”. If we can get at least 12 people, it would be fun to get together for dinner. Please sign up in the cue house or let me know. Hope to see you there. Ciao!

Well, the usual clean up crew came to clean and dry the courts for the Thursday Morning Four Play Challenge and Sixteen (16) shufflers showed up to play. We made it through about twenty minutes and then the rain came down. We were forced to cancel the game until next week. Hope the weather is better and we will see you all there. Ciao!

Thursday Morning Four Play – June 6, 2019

I was unable to attend the Thursday Morning Four Play today, but Dennis was kind enough to send me a notice. Only Fourteen (14) Shufflers showed up today for our regular Thursday Morning Four Play Challenge as the weather was really hot. No one from the other clubs showed up for the challenge, but Tim Pergrem was able to win all four of his games. Congratulations Tim. Hope to see you all back here next week for our regular play. Ciao!

Thursday Morning Four Play Results – May 30, 2019

This morning the usual clean up crew arrived to prepare the courts for the Thursday Morning Four Play Challenge.  We had Twenty-two (22) shufflers come for the challenge.  Debbie Evans asked that we have a silent prayer for Darrel and other shufflers that were no longer with us.  We then played two games and recorded the winners, when Dee Metz became ill from the heat and she and Bob went home so we had even courts for the final two games.  Hope she is feeling better.  Congratulations to Dennis for winning all four of his games.  Hope to see all of you back again next month,  June 6th for a new challenge.  Ciao!

Dennis won all four games

Darrel Harman – May 28, 2019

We had some very sad news as we arrived at the courts this morning. Darrel Harman passed away in his sleep last night.  Darrel has been a very active, long time member of the CMS Club.  He joined the club in 2006.   As they only found him this morning, I do not have any more information to relate to you all.  I will post more as I have it.  Darrel will be missed.

Bud Barker Passed away on Thursday, May 9th.

Cletus S. “Bud” Barker, age 97, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and formerly of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 2:24 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Edgewater, Florida.

Funeral arrangements are pending with the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.

CMS Club Member Profile
Posted on May 5, 2015
Bud Barker is our most senior member (93 years young). He is originally from Mount Sterling, Illinois and moved to NSB 15 years ago by way of Deltona. Bud has been in Florida for approximately 40 years and has been a member of the CMS club for the past 18 years. He was playing a couple of weeks ago with Randy and proceeded to put him in the “kitchen” more than once. Upon playing the winning disc, he gleefully muttered under his breath, “don’t mess with the old man.” His play is not a fluke because in last Thursday’s “Four-Play” he won all four of his games. Keep on shuffling Bud!

Bud was our oldest member and always had a smile for everyone. He will be sorely missed. RIP Bud.
