Hello Everyone, Just a reminder that the Coronado Mainland Shuffleboard Club will be hosting the Northern District ND#24 No Two Pros Tournament on January 27th. We will be needing Volunteers to assist the tournament players during the day. We will also be notifying you of a clean up day prior to the tournament.

Please Note:  We have two amateurs, who have been playing very well, that need partners for this Tournament.  This tournament is good experience for all our amateurs so please contact them.

Death notice 2020

We say Goodbye to Frances Briginshaw June 29 1929 December 21 2019

Obituary

Frances passed peacefully on December 21, 2019 at the age of 90, embraced by the love of her family.  For those older members of our club who knew Francis. She was one of our life members who gained her Pro status in 1987. She lived in Ontario, Canada and you can read her full Obituary here

Today we set up the courts for the Singles Mingles Challenge.  We had Ten Amateurs and only Five Pro/State Ams come to play.  I believe that this way of playing will help our amateurs become more comfortable with the game but we need to get more people participating. especially our Pros.  The next Singles Mingles is Wednesday January 19th at 11:30 am.

Pros/State Ams
First Place:  Dennis Buelk with 260 points (4 games)
Second Place: Edna Triplett with 245 points (3 games)
Third Place:  Randy Radke with 191 points (3 games)

Amateurs
First Place: Jack Koppelman with 408 points (4 games)
Second Place: Anne Ferguson with 235 points (3 games)
Third Place:   Bill Van Note with 229 points (3 games)

Hope to see all of you for our next Singles Mingles.  Let’s see if we can’t get some more participants to show up.  This is really good practice for our tournament on January 27th.  This is a No Two Pros Tournament so we need to get our Amateurs paired up with our Pros.   See you on the courts.

Pros, Dennis, Edna and Randy

Amateurs, Bill, Ann and Jack

Under Scoring: This is for Future Reference!

4. If a tie game results at the game point (75) or over, play is continued in regular rotation of play, until two full rounds in Doubles or one full round in
Singles is completed. At that time the side with the higher score wins, even if it has less than 75 points or the number of points specified as game
points. If the score is tied again, play continues again as above outlined

Yesterday we began our month long Monday Tournaments. We have Tournament players playing each other and Amateurs playing each other. We record wins for a month and those players who have the highest wins in both tournament and amateur categories win the prizes for first, second, third and fourth. We had three full courts of tournament players and four courts of amateurs.  Everyone had a great time.  Hope we can have more players come next Monday.

For any of our new members looking for cue sticks. The cheapest I can find regular or collapsing cue sticks is from Allen Shuffleboard Company.

2080 – Telescoping Shuffleboard Cue with Continental Head (Blue) – Allen Shuffleboard

This regulation sized, telescoping aluminum cue collapses to approximately 43″ for easy storage. The locking mechanism makes it easy to adjust the cue to be shorter than regulation length, which is great for kids and shorter adults. This cue comes standard with a replaceable continental head.    They sell them for $47.00.

They also have a one piece cue stick

1018 – CONTINENTAL SWIVEL ONE PIECE CUE

• Regular price$28.00

The Continental one-piece cue is designed to provide great disc control in a simple package. With replaceable swivel runners that help guide the disc, this cue is perfect for home, resort, or recreational play. The Continental Swivel Cue is our #1 seller.
