Obituary

Connie Bousquet, 73.

August 28, 2021
Connie (Spellman) Bousquet, 73, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away peacefully with family at her bedside. She was born in Newark, Ohio on February 14, 1948 to the late Robert and Frances (Swain) Spellman. She was the loving wife of Gerard Bousquet with whom she shared 55 beautiful years of marriage.
A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Connie treasured her family and friends and easily shared laughter with everyone she met. She was most happy when everyone gathered in her home to share meals, play games and laugh. Connie enjoyed pet sitting and spending time with her friends. She especially liked painting and crafting with her sister.
Her love and good humor will live on in her children: Stephanie Mattas (Francis) of Greenville, SC., Denise Miller (Randy) of Port Orange, FL., Karen Bousquet (Scott Vine) of Lancaster, PA., and Robert Bousquet (Shayla) of Greenville, SC. Known affectionately as Nana, she was most proud of her five grandsons and two great grandsons: Justin Van Sickle (Stephanie), Derrick Van Sickle (Cassie), Alex Vine, Scott Bousquet, Adam Bousquet and great-grandsons Jordan Tipton and Dante Van Sickle.
A special thanks to her sister, Candy Kordeleski, brother in-law, Richard Kordeleski and sister in-law, Claire Saladay for dedicating their love and patience to the whole family during her illness.

A celebration of Connie’s life will be held September 24, 2021 at Baldwin Brothers 1 North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, Fl 32169. Visitation from 2pm to 3pm with a service to follow.

We Finally Made The Newspaper

On July 7th I sent the newspaper the article about our SPARC group meeting to play shuffleboard. I was very disappointed that it took until August 6th to finally get posted. By then the program had ended due to bad weather each Wednesday. We finally made the paper and we are so proud of the SPARCs group for their accomplishments in learning the game of shuffleboard and having a great time. Thanks to Mike and Karin Beall and Joan Sanford’s patient tutelage.  We will continue again next year.

Grace Marlatt has passed away

We had a sad phone call this morning from Walt Vilk saying that Grace Marlatt had passed away last night.  She had been a member of our club since 1998 and enjoyed participating in both the Northern District Tournaments and the InterCity Tournaments.  She will be sorely missed.   I do not have any further information at this time.
