The Coronado/Mainland Shuffler

The Deland Shuffleboard Club hosted the ND01 Any Doubles Tournament on Jan 18/19, 2024. Richie and Caroline Burrell were the directors and Florida Orthopaedic Associates and the Deland Shuffleboard club were the sponsors. We had a bit of rain on the first day but were able to complete the tournament on Friday.

Hawthorne Shuffleboard Club hosted the Any Amateur Doubles Tournament that was supposed to be played at Holiday RV. Rod Lewis was the Director and Dale Trinklein and George and Gloria Boring were the sponsors. Due to three days of rain the tournament was completed at 6:30 pm on Monday. Sorry, due to the rain we only got a picture of 4th place in the Main. Congratulations to all the shufflers.

The date has been set: January 20 for Fun Day. People must arrive by 9:45 a.m. for sign up and the games begin at 10 a.m. There is a $1 entry fee which is used for prize money. Coffee, hot dogs and chips to be served following the games. Don’t forget to sign up in the cue house so we know how many can come and how many hot dogs you want. The Tavares Shuffleboard Club hosted the ND14 Pro Only Draw/Amateur Only Draw on Jan 4, 2024. Rod Lewis was the Director and Edward Jones and All American Washer Werks were the sponsors. It was very windy and cold but happy players.  We had a few new Amateur players too. The tournament was the largest this season.  It was a very cold start in the 40’s but the sun came out to cheers from the players. This is the first time that I can remember when the amateurs outnumbered the pros 36 to 32. George Snyder earned his 200th point to ensure his position in the Northern District Hall of Fame next year. Congratulations George.

I just wanted to remind everyone that ND01 Any Doubles to be played in Deland was postponed until Jan 18th and 19th (Thur/Fri). between ND 16 (which is MTW) and ND 17 (which is also a MTW). It does not show up on the schedule. Hope to see you there.

Please note that Pre-Registration is necessary for the remaining Amateur Tournaments in the Northern District Tournaments (ND14-Any Am Draw and ND16-Any AM Doubles) for the 2023-2024 Shuffleboard Season.  Please Send an Email rodlewis1317@protonmail.com . 

Amateurs must register to ensure there are at least ten teams playing.  If there are not enough teams that register then in accordance with our current Rules, in specific:- 

Rule #6 “Pre-registration will be required as a tournament needs ten (10) teams or more to be played as a doubles event. If less, then ten (10) teams register the event will be played as a singles. A Singles Tournament will require a minimum of twelve (12) players.”
