The Coronado/Mainland Shuffler

The Tavares Shuffleboard Club hosted State Amateur Tournament  A16b on January 29, 2024 .  Eleven teams participated from Mid FL Lakes, Hawthorne, Holiday RVV, Leesburg and Clermont. Rod Lewis was the director and Edward Jones and All American Washers were the sponsors. The director had a few close calls.

This year Mardi Gras is on February 13th “Fat Tuesday”. Every year our club participates with our banner, costumes and floats. Everyone has a great time. Please sign up on the sheet in the Cue house so we can plan on how many beads we need. We will meet in the club house between 5:00 and 5:30 pm. Everyone dresses in bright Mardi Gras colors of Purple, Green and Yellow. We have some extra masks. We then walk together over to S. The Leesburg Shuffleboard Club hosted the ND18 Modified Draw M-L Singles and Mixed Tournament on January 25, 2025. Gail Howell was the Director, Suter Air, Carol and Lee Helfer and Katie and Lyle Walker were the sponsors. Thank you to Don Velcio for all the wonderful pictures. Congratulations to all the shufflers.

Modified Draw: We had 25 men so the swing round made the day longer. We played until 7:10pm, but both matches come out to the quarterfinals and then the 4 people in each category, pro and am men and women, draw for each category on Friday.
 #1 plays with #1, #2 plays with #2
 They have to go to their courts, surprise, to find their partner. It was quite a match, with all teams in the finals going three close games.

Please Note:  We are hosting three tournaments this year and we will need all shufflers who are not playing in the tournament to step up and volunteer to help.  There will be a sign up sheet posted in the Cue house for each tournament.   February 1, February 29 and we will be holding the Masters Tournament on March 21.  Anyone who participates as a Masters Volunteer is invited to come to the dinner supplied on Friday.  This is always a fun event and we will be Inducting one of our own members, Rex Galusha into the Northern District Hall of Fame.  

Also Very Important is our coming elections.  This club does not function on its own.  It takes a lot of work.  Elections March 2, 2024– Pat, Judy and Scott are on the Nomination Committee.
There are 4 positions that have their terms expired after 2 years. If you have question or are interested contact committee member.   Thanks for your help.

John and Barb Fortini hosted the first Fun Day for 2024. The day turned out really cold and windy, but 40 brave shufflers showed up for the fun and games. One of our snowbirds, Pat Llodra and her team won the day. Hot dogs, chips and drinks were enjoyed after the play. Sorry I don’t know anything more, but I have downloaded some of the fun pictures from our Facebook page. Thanks to Tom Grubb and Suzanne Musashe for all the great pictures.

We had our first pot luck dinner for 2024 entitled Welcome Back 2024 on January 16th. It was organized by Arlene and Jerry Jabaut. One of our Club Sponsors, Tina Prichard (NSB Homes) handed out door prize tickets and had surprises for the lucky winners.  We had around 68 members come to enjoy the festivities including a large number of our social members.  So many volunteers helped, I want to thank you all.  I have received pictures from several different people so I will post and you enjoy.  We had such fun, lets do it again soon.

The Deland Shuffleboard Club hosted the ND01 Any Doubles Tournament on Jan 18/19, 2024. Richie and Caroline Burrell were the directors and Florida Orthopaedic Associates and the Deland Shuffleboard club were the sponsors. We had a bit of rain on the first day but were able to complete the tournament on Friday.
