Bob’s recovery

Subject: Bob’s recovery
From: rjfinta@aol.com
Date: Sat, 3 Mar 2012 07:40:58 -0500

He’s doing great. He’s out of the ICU and in a step down room which has a pull-out couch in it so i”m off to stay with him until he can come home where he’ll have a visiting nurse to come in and do what has to be done.He might have to go to rehab for a fewq days but he’s doing so well III don’t think that will happen. Between the nurse and myself we should be able to take care of him. He looks great but he’s still very tired. He was out of the bed almost all day yesterday. So far he hasn’t had much pain but he’s not on morphine anymore but they are giving him percoset when needed. We’ll see how he is today. My brother Harry and Barbara have been great and it has made things a lot easier for me. Thanks for all of the kind words. I’ll write again as soon as he comes home which should be the beginning of next week. Carol

News Journanal article re old Mainland site in NSB

News Journal article - Mar 1, 2012 by Richard ConnClick the small on right image to view full sized – >

The balance of the article was about the former skate-board park part of the property, and its current use for parking although not meeting city parking lot requirements. City Manager Brangaccio said that the city planned to bring the lot up to code, and that revamped parking “.. could be a major attractant”, for developers, and if a residential development were eventually built, tenants and the public could share the parking.

Fun Day

A good time was had by all. There were just 40 of us, and we all enjoyed the hotdog and salad lunch, then 10 Team Captains lead their teams of four through all 20 courts set up for  shuffling ranging from the wild to the unusual, but always fun.

The Top Five Teams were captained by
 1st – 1220 points – Pete Peterson
 2nd – 1140 points – Pat Zern
 3rd – 1060 points – Leo Gagnon
 4th – 1050 points – Donna Toney
 5th 1-4- points – Bud Barker

We thank the hard-working volunteers – Marguerite and Paul Fortier for setup and cleanup of the club-room serving table and kitchen, assitant Penny Boyes; Hotdog cook Don Abraham, assitant Bob Tager. Carl Millar served hotdogs; Bill Boyes sold 50/50 tickets, Sid Pomainville guided the cleanup and set up of the courts with Arden and Mary McConnell, Gilles, Pete Peterson, Bill Boyes, and many helped clean up afterwards.

  • Butch is back home after an operation on his foot, but will be fulfilling his duties from home for three to four weeks.
  • Bob Finta is home and will undergo heart surgery on February 29th. Our hopes and prayers ride with him and Carole. We all hope for a full recovery and to see him at the Banquet March 25th, and a shuffleboard cue in his hand about that time as well!
  • Doreen Bessette had a trip to the hospital with breathing problems but we believe she is back home now.
