I found out why Darrel did not join us last night for our Pot Luck Dinner. I got this email this morning….”I got word that my sister Pamela passed away yesterday from complications of ALS at the age of 68. She would have been 69 on the 30th. Could you put a posting on the website to ask for prayers for the family?

Pictures from the Thursday Morning Four-Play

Today was our last Thursday Morning Four Play of the season. We had 30 ardent players. Today only Tom Andrick (right) and Rex Galusha won all four of their games. A big shout out and thanks go to Ron Raymond for overseeing this competition along with his seasonal set-up-helpers Tom Rimmer, Dennis Buelk and Charlie Jones.  Summarizing this season’s Thursday Morning Four-Play’s (since April 23rd) winners are: 4 time winners Dennis Buelk, Tom Rimmer and Rex Galusha;  3 time winners Tom Andrick, Bonnie Radke, Charlie Jones and Walt (Deland);  2 time winners Stan Williamson, Mary Ann Pabst, Wayne Lockwood, Jan Dally, Phil Wade and Bob Tager;  1 time winners Bud Barker, Guy Godman, Edna Triplett, Pat Zern, Alan Bessette, Pete Peterson and Alice. Everyone has enjoyed the Summer season play and we are now all looking forward to our Fall and Winter tournament seasonal play. Thanks for a wonderful and fun 2015 season of Four Play.

Tuesday morning the CM Shuffleboard Club participated in the “Games People Play” event which was set up to help the public learn about some of the contests they may want to participate in for the NSB Senior Games.  CMS Club members helped set up a Shuffleboard court next to the Pickleball court in the Center’s expansive gym. Allen Best(CMS President), Rich Kordeleski and Bonnie Radke gave shuffleboard instructions while other CMS Club members provided support and advice to those interested in playing Shuffleboard.  Ms. Liz Yancey, NSB Recreation and Special Event Director, provided first-rate supervision and a very helpful Staff from the Babe James Community Center. They helped to support the instructors giving lessons to interested individuals (some of them CMS Club members) also wanting to learn to play Pickleball. Joan Best also instructed individuals on how to play Cribbage in an adjoining room at the BJC Center.  Approximately 38 people registered at the desk as participants and helpers. Everyone appeared to have fun learning about “Games People Play” .

FREE “HOW TO” CLASS COME JOIN US AND LEARN THE RULES AND HOW TO PLAY PICKLEBALL, SHUFFLEBOARD AND CRIBBAGE. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2015 AT 8:30AM AT THE BABE JAMES COMMUNITY CENTER, 201 N. MYRTLE AVE, NEW SMYRNA BEACH.  ALLEN BEST WILL BE BRINGING THE NECESSARY TOOLS TO PLAY SHUFFLEBOARD AND WOULD WELCOME THE HELP OF ANY C/M SHUFFLEBOARD CLUB MEMBERS WHO CAN COME LEND A HAND.

Please note that October is when our CMS Club”ANNUAL $20.00 DUES” are required to be paid. Make your payment to either Allen Best or Betty Buccini. Please note that those members who joined in the second part of 2015 are covered through 2016. Please check dates on your membership card if you are unsure or contact either Allen Best or Betty Buccini.  Thanks for your attention to this essential matter.

Today’s Four-Play took place on a refreshing overcast morning. Fifteen devoted players showed up to participate, even under the threat of rain. All participants were CMS Club members, except for Walt, who drove all the way from Deland to join the fun. Dennis (who was so happy) was the only one winning all four of his games for the fourth time this season. Next week will be our last Thursday Morning Four-Play event in 2015 (weather willing), so we hope you can make it in order to have an end of season big turnout.

Candy and Rich Kordeleski are dutiful members, avid participants and staunch supporters of the CMS Club. They reside in New Smyrna Beach and became a member of CMS three years ago. Rich regularly volunteers to help with club program set ups, games, clean ups, maintenance, re-supply and facility renovations that are so necessary for a well functioning club. He and Candy moved here from Ohio in 1997 where she was a LPN Nurse and Rich was a steel mill foreman.  Candy and Rich have four daughters,  four son-in-laws, fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren still living in Ohio.  Rich enjoys metal detecting and wood working.  I was surprised to learn that Rich has built some of the neat lifeguard mailbox stands (similar to the one pictured below) you may have seen around the area.  Candy and her sister Connie Bousquet (another CMS Club member and NSB resident) enjoy making note cards, doing needlework and other arts and crafts. We are all grateful they settled on becoming part of the CMS Club family.

Please Note the date for the Pot Luck Dinner has changed from originally announced. The dinner will be held Friday, September 25th at 5:30 PM.  For those newcomers, we usually get there around 5:00 PM to help set up tables and chairs.  We also want to remind you to bring your own plates, cups, silverware and beverage to drink.  We have a limited amount of soda and will have ice tea or lemonade available.  After the dinner we invite all of you to stay for a friendly game of Bunko.  Come enjoy the camaraderie, laughter and fun at our next pot luck dinner.  Sign up is in the club house.  If you don’t cook or don’t have time, feel free to pick up something to share at the grocery store.  See you there.

Quite a few of our CMS Club members will participate in the NSB Senior Games which will be held between September 29th – October 8th, 2015.  The Coronado/Mainland Shuffleboard Courts will be utilized for the shuffleboard portion of these games on Tuesday, October 6th starting at 8:00 am. Please come on down and cheer on those participating in this event.
