The Coronado/Mainland Shuffler

Just a quick reminder that tonight is the LAST Singles Mingles Night for this year. It is open to all members who want a little competition. The participation fee is only $2.00, which is all returned to the top three finishers among PROs and Amateurs. The Single Mingles matches are a good deal of fun. We meet at 5:45 pm. We play five games of twelve frames each and all matches should be finished by around 9 pm. It is not necessary to be single to participate. Looking forward to seeing you tonight. Hope to see you all there.

Today’s Thursday Morning Four-Play matches, overseen by Ron Raymond and helper Tom Rimmer, attracted Twenty-eight (28) faithful shufflers. This week’s Four Match (4) Winners are: Guy Godman, Charlie Jones, Tom Rimmer and Stan Williamson. Bien hecho! Our summer Pot Luck (PL) Dinner was attended by twenty-one (21) CMS Club members. The PL dishes and desserts brought in by the participating members where most plentiful and yummy. A shout-out of appreciation goes out to the kitchen helpers and their table/chair arrangers.

The 50/50 drawing, conducted by Joan Best, was won by Gerry Bousquet (…he wins again!). The participants left a little heavier after partaking from the delightful culinary delights. Some of the members stayed to play Bunco. Until next time, chaio!

This week we had three (3) Four Match Winners: Guy Godman, Edna Triplett and Wayne Lockwood. Bien hecho! We welcome any and all shufflers to participate in next week’s match play. And yet another RAINOUT – It looked ominous when we arrived after a heavy rain but three (3) stalwart shufflers still showed up, squeegeed, cleaned and  beaded a court. We managed to play one and a half friendly matches of round robin when lightning made us a little anxious. The black clouds rolled in and the rain unloaded on us. The rain was relentless, so we packed it in and went home……until next time! Adios!

Please note that October 1st is when our CMS CLUB “ANNUAL $20.00 DUES” are required to be paid. Make your payment to either Allen Best or Bonnie Radke on behalf of the club.  You will be given a new membership card. Please note that those members who joined the club after May 1st of 2016 are covered through October 2017. Please check the dates on your membership card if you are unsure or contact either Allen or Bonnie. Thank you for your attention to this essential matter.

Please Note:  Most people pay in cash and they can give it to either Bonnie or to Allen and they give you a new membership card. Others pay with a check and they make the check payable to Coronado/Mainland Shuffleboard Club. It is then turned over to the treasurer. Bonnie is in charge of membership and the membership list will be updated to show the participant has paid their dues. You are welcome to mail in the payment to: Betty Buccini, 2325 Date Palm Dr. Edgewater, FL 32119 and she will mail you a new membership card

27TH Annual Senior Games
Event Happens: Sep 27, 2016 – Oct 06, 2016 (09:00 AM – 03:00 PM)

Please note that this year the Tuesday, October 4th, Shuffleboard portion of the Senior Games will be run like a Singles Mingles Competition.  Teams will be chosen by draw at the beginning of each match.  There will be five matches of 12 frames each.  The three high scores will win Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

What does it cost?
Entry fee is $20 for as many events as you want to participate in (Some events require an additional fee). Includes the 27th Annual T-Shirt, Kickoff Continental Breakfast at the Babe James Community Center, 201 N Myrtle Ave on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, and the Victory Celebratlon at the Woman’s Club, 403 Magnolia St. at 4:30 pm, Thursday, October 6, 2016.

Guests attending the Victory Celebration are $10.00 extra charge. Registration fees and completed form must be dropped off to the Recreation Department, 1000 Live Oak Street by 4:30 pm on Friday, September 23, 2016

Today’s Thursday Morning Four-Play matches, overseen by Ron Raymond, attracted Nineteen (19) committed shufflers who showed up for a friendly shuffling competition on a pleasant and sunny September morning. This week we had only ONE Four Match Winner; Guy Godman. Well done! We welcome any and all shufflers to participate in next week’s match play. It is one of three Thursdays left before the end of the month when these Thursday Morning Four-Play matches will sadly come to an end until next year. Hasta luego!

Another CMS Club evening of Singles Mingles matches was tallied up by Dennis Buelk. Four (4) Pro/State Ams and Five (5) Amateurs showed up to compete in order to earn some of the entry fee payout upon placing. We played five 12 frame matches and drew new partners after each match. Each amateur was paired with a Pro or State Amateur when possible. There were two winners from the Pro/State Ams…..First Place: Joe Shebester and Second Place: Dennis Buelk. The two winners from the Amateurs…..First Place: BonnieRadke and Second Place: Randy Radke. Just Terrific! Once again, thanks to all of you who participated and continue to support this event. These matches take place every Wednesday starting at 5:45 pm. We would welcome more club members to come on out. If you can make it, we would like to see you on the Single Mingles night shift!
