Earl Ball of Zephyrhills won an all-time record, 17th National Championship in the Summer Nationals hosted by the Lakeland Shuffleboard Club on 2013 05 06. Ball teamed with fellow National and Florida Shuffleboard Association Hall of Famer, Stan Williamson of Daytona. The tournament was hotly contested right from the 1st game when Ball and Williamson lost the 1st game 75-72 when Ball’s opponent reversed a kitchen and scored to win; but they stormed back to win the next two games and the match. The 3rd match was so hard fought that it took four hours and three games to decide a winner. In the 5th match Ball and Williamson found themselves behind in the 2nd game 38 to 77 in the hole, a 115 point deficit but they hung in and fought against all odds to win the game 80-65 and take the semifinals. …
