Nine hardy souls braved the cold today to play in our regular Singles-Mingles day-tournament. The outside temperature in the morning was 48 deg. F. By 3 PM it may have been as high as 55 deg. Wind was 15 mph from the north and west. But when I got to the courts at 8:05 AM, there were five people already there preping the courts (moving around to try to stay warm). By 8:30 there were eight, and soon there were 9 (4 pros and 5 ams). Enough to have fun with an entry fee of $1.00 each!
We play our singles-mingles as 6 games of 16 frames, changing color after 8 frames, drawing for court, partner and opponents for each game. Only winners of each game record their scores, and the tournament winners are the ones with the highest number of wins, using total score for a tiebreaker if needed. Winners were Sigrid Reichert ($4), Bob Tager($3), Paul Fortier($2).
